I was in shock. Excited but in shock. Matt wanted to be home if I ever took a test, but this morning I just knew it was going to be negative. I couldn't just call him. So I paced....and paced....and thought....and got excited....and got nervous. I wrapped the pregnancy test in a plastic bag and then in tissue paper and a gift bag. Then I went to work and waited. Matt and I come home from work to eat lunch together every day, so I knew I just needed to make it home before him. Success. He walked in the door, and I told him how proud I was of him for how hard he had been working at his job. I said I had a small gift for him. I was SO nervous. He opened the gift and couldn't believe it. We hugged and smiled and laughed and smiled and laughed. Oh it was a wonderful moment!
We had our first doctor's appointment a week later at 5 weeks. (Early, right? Well, the nurse told me to come on in). I have the best doctor in the whole world who coincidentally shares my name :). She sent us for an ultrasound so she could correctly determine our due date. Here was our first picture of sweet Baby Franklin:
It was too early to hear the heartbeat, so we got to go back a week later and hear his/her heartbeat! That was amazing. Here is the picture at 6 weeks:
Matt and I are so blessed to be able to parent this child. We can't wait to meet him or her!
"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27
